Central European Centre for Women and Youth in Science
Women in Central and Eastern Europe face double marginalisation.
As women they face social and institutional barriers to getting to the top of science and as a result they don’t have equal chance to contribute to shaping research priorities. These barriers stem from the traditional roles and stereotypically perceived qualities of men and women. Despite, or even because of, state socialist equal treatment policy, the traditional division of roles and labour, both outside and inside the family, did not change.
In the post-socialist context many women (as well as men) scientists are faced with the consequences of isolation and exclusion from western R&D developments, resulting in a lack of networking, required skills and self-confidence necessary for participation in international research projects. This is not to say that all women scientists have the same experience or that that no women have succeeded, but as long as there are some facing marginalisation or even discrimination, there is work to be done.
Center of Excellence Women and Science is the national node for the realization of equal opportunities for women and men in the area of science and research in Germany. CEWS serves as think tank for this field of policy, stimulates thinking, initiates alteration processes for which it provides scientific support, and actively co-organises the required transfer processes between science and politics.

The aims of EDEM are scientific, social and cultural. EDEM also aims in upgrading Greek Women Engineers' standard of living.
the European Platform of Women Scientists
From its location in Brussels the European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS seeks to support the work of a whole range of existing national, regional and local networks of women scientists by “networking the networks”. At the same time the platform aims to make women scientists better understand the role they can play in the research policy debate and how to fully benefit from these opportunities.
The main aims are:
- to improve the position of women in science, both in public and private sectors,
- to promote a positive image of science among women and of women in science,
- to encourage more girls to enter science.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
The Third World Organization for Women in Science (TWOWS) is an independent, non-profit and non-governmental body based at the offices of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS) in Trieste, Italy.
TWOWS is the first international forum to unite eminent women scientists from the South with the objective of strengthening their role in the development process and promoting their representation in scientific and technological leadership.
National organisation women in higher technical education and positions, VHTO, makes an effort - in many different ways - to increase the involvement of women and girls in advanced technological education, the technological employment market and government policy.
Women´s Engineering Society, WES, was formed in 1919 when women engineers were a new breed in a male dominated environment. Because of their own sense of isolation, early members wanted to help women engineers to meet and exchange ideas on common interests, training and employment. In that first year the Society's Journal The Woman Engineer was published, appearing regularly ever since. WES today is a growing, vigorous organisation for those interested in engineering

L'Associazione Donne e Scienza, è stata fondata nel dicembre 2003 da un gruppo di studiose e scienziate di varie discipline, impegnate dagli anni '80 in poi, in attività concernenti la presenza delle donne nella scienza e l'analisi, in particolare, della scienza contemporanea.
National Contact Centre - Women and Science (NKC - Zeny a veda)
Založení Národního kontaktního centra – ženy a věda Sociologického ústavu AV ČR v roce 2001 vycházelo z přesvědčení, že přestože se genderová problematika a otázka rovných příležitostí v ČR již poměrně etablovala, oblast vědy a výzkumu jí zůstává až na výjimky uzavřena. Centrum si klade za cíl přispívat k budování genderového diskurzu v oblasti vědy a výzkumu, k utváření vědní politiky v ČR a otázkám lidských zdrojů, zejména postavení žen ve vědě. V neposlední řadě též funguje jako místo střetávání různých názorů a koncepcí v průsečíku vědeckého zkoumání a genderu a jako místo setkávání a výměny zkušeností českých badatelek.
The basic idea of the project is to allow high-level women scientists working in Nano-science to act as Ambassadors for Women and Science in order to raise awareness of gender issues in science (more specific, in Nano-Science) and to provide ‘role models’ for girls and women, with a view to encouraging them to consider studies and pursue careers in scientific fields.
